Soho House "Drive" Themed NYE Party 2019

Updated: Feb 25, 2022

In collaboration with creative agency Sunset Studios, we once again brought an over the top look and feel to the downtown Los Angeles Soho Warehouse. For this event, the challenge was to recreate the space so that it felt as if you stepped on to the set of the movie Drive starring Ryan Gosling.

The warehouse venue itself is a six story building in the arts district of Los Angeles, and we were met with creating a floor plan that would accommodate over 700 of the Soho members using only the first floor, sixth floor and the rooftop. Luckily, we were able to gut the entire space down to only tables and wall decor, however, we still had to create a main stage for performing artists Glass Candy and the Chromatics.

As per the client, every corner of every room had to be a photo moment worthy of the movie. Guests were greeted at the door with a real overturned police car complete with smoke and twirling lights. We transformed the first floor restaurant into a recreation of "Nino's Pizzeria" directly from the movie that doubled as a dance floor with an oversized disco ball. The sixth floor was an underground style dive strip club and casino where guests enjoyed blackjack and roulette. On the main stage, we hired real exotic dancers to entertain, clothed, of course, but with just as much athleticism to "wow" the onlooker. Our custom touches to the evening included a backstage strip club dressing room photo moment directly from the movie and an extra large Motel sign that dressed the rooftop swimming pool.
